Meet the 2019 JCI International Officer Candidates
This year’s JCI candidates demonstrate the commitment and action needed in order to create positive change in more than 5000 communities around the globe.
At the2018 JCI World Congress in Goa, India Chief Delegates and National Presidents from JCI Organizations from around the world will gather to elect the leaders of the international organization for 2019. Your chosen representatives will be selected from the following list of candidates, including the 2019 JCI Vice Presidents, 2019 JCI Executive Vice Presidents and the 2019 JCI President.

For the Office of JCI President:
Candidate: Alexander Tio
National Organization: JCI Indonesia
Born 15 October 1979 in Medan, Indonesia, Tio holds an Executive Master of Business Administration degree from Tsinghua University in Beijing, China, and a bachelor’s degree in economics from Indiana University in Bloomington, USA. He is currently the chief executive officer of an elevator company he founded in 2004 and also the director of the holding company. He currently resides in Jakarta, Indonesia, with his wife, Aelyn Halim, and daughter, Arthalia.
Tio joined JCI Medan in 2004. He served as the 2009 Executive Vice President of JCI Medan and the 2013 JCI Indonesia National President.
At the International level, Tio served as a 2014 JCI Vice President and the 2018 JCI Executive Vice President for Asia and the Pacific. He has attended 15 JCI Area Conferences and eight JCI World Congresses. He has been honored as JCI Senator No. 71688 and he is a Henry Giessenbier Fellow of the JCI Foundation. He speaks English, Mandarin and also Bahasa Indonesia.
For the Office of JCI Executive Vice President:
Candidate: Amzad Hussain
National Organization: JCI Bangladesh
Born 30 November 1982 in Dhaka, Bangladesh, Hussain holds a Master of Business Administration and works as director of a consumer products manufacturing company. He holds a director position of a family-run travel and tourism company. He is also a co-owner of a franchisee cricket team of Bangladesh Premier League. Currently he serves as a director of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI). He resides in Dhaka, Bangladesh, with his wife Sarah, and their daughters, Nisa and Alzeena.
Hussain joined JCI Dhaka East in 2011. He became Local President in 2012 and National President in 2014.
At the international level, Hussain served as 2016 JCI Vice President. He also served as a Councilor of the Asia-Pacific Development Council in 2012 and 2013, JCI Partnership Committee Member in 2015, JCI Alumni Relations Committee Member in 2017 and JCI Strategic Planning Committee Member in 2018. He has attended nine JCI Area Conferences, seven JCI World Congresses and three JCI Global Partnership Summits. He graduated from the 26th JCI Academy in Fukuyama, Japan in 2013. He has been honored as JCI Senator No. 71987. He is a Henry Giessenbier Fellow of the JCI Foundation. He is a JCI Trainer for JCI Official and Recommended Trainings. He Speaks English, Hindi and Bangla.
Candidate: Viktor Ómarsson
National Organization: JCI Iceland
Born 17 June 1983 in Borgarnes, Iceland, Ómarsson studied political science, business administration, auditing and accounting, and works as a business consultant and coach. He lives in Reykjavik, Iceland, with his partner, Elizes Low Zin Rui.
Ómarsson joined JCI Reykjavík in 2010, became Local President in 2011 and JCI Iceland National President in 2012.
At the international level, Ómarsson served as 2016 JCI European Development Council Chairperson and 2017 JCI Vice President, and serves as Strategic Planning Committee member this year. He has attended 14 JCI Area Conferences and six JCI World Congresses. He has been honored as JCI Senator No. 73511 and is a Phil Pugsley Patron of the JCI Foundation. He speaks English and Icelandic.
Candidate: Argenis Angulo
National Organization: JCI Venezuela
Born July 23, 1983 in Maracaibo, Venezuela, Angulo is a journalist and obtained a master’s degree in communication sciences from the Universidad del Zulia. He also graduated from the Advanced Studies Program of Governance and Political Management at George Washington University. He leads a consulting firm, is the corporate office director of a Venezuelan oil group and is a columnist of a national newspaper, El Universal.
A JCI member since 2001, Angulo became 2008 JCI Zulia Local President, and later 2011 JCI Venezuela National President. Angulo was elected 2014 JCI Vice President, and he received the recognition of Most Outstanding Vice President for The Americas.
He is a JCI Foundation Phil Pugsley Patron, JCI Senator, and has attended 13 JCI Area Conferences, seven JCI World Congresses, and seven National Presidents Meetings.
Angulo also served as 2015 Special Assistant for Sponsorship, 2016 Commissioner for Grow and Development, 2017 Personal Assistant to the JCI President, and this year as 2018 Growth and Development Committee Chairperson.
Candidate: Oumar Ouedraogo
National Organization: JCI Burkina Faso
Born on 2 January 1982 in Bobo Dioulasso, Burkina Faso, Ouedraogo holds a master's degree in transport and logistics and a bachelor's degree in finance and accounting. He works as an accountant in an insurance company. He lives in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, with his wife, Diaratou, and their son, Abraham.
Oumar joined JCI Ouaga Golden in 2005. He became Local President in 2013, and National President in 2016.
At the international level, Ouedraogo served as 2017 JCI Vice President and as a member of the 2018 JCI Growth and Development Committee. He has attended five JCI Area Conferences and two JCI World Congresses. He was honored as JCI Senator No. 74530. He speaks French and English.
For the Office of JCI Vice President:
Candidate: Mabintou Gbane
National Organization: JCI Côte d’Ivoire
Born 28 March 1981 in Agnibilekrou, Côte d’Ivoire, Gbane is a quality management engineer and works as the head of a medical analysis laboratory. She lives in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire.
Gbane joined JCI Universitaire Abidjan in 2006. She was elected 2010 Local President. She coordinated JCI training courses for six years, and she joined JCI Abidjan in 2013 where she was appointed Executive Assistant in charge of training and legal advisor in 2014. She served as 2015 National Vice President, 2016 National Executive Vice President, 2017 Deputy President and 2018 JCI National President. Gbane is a JCI Trainer and certified in JCI Achieve, Admin, Impact, Presenter and Effective Leadership.
Gbane graduated from the 30th JCI Japan Academy in 2017.
Candidate: Jay Johnson
National Organization: JCI USA
Born 11 November 1981 in Detroit, MI, USA, Jay Johnson holds a master’s degree in communication and works as CEO and master trainer for Coeus Creative Group. He resides in Redford, MI, USA, with his wife, Stephanie.
Johnson joined JCI Redford in 2009. He became Local President in 2011, State President in 2014, and National Leadership Development Director in 2018. Johnson has also served as coach and consultant for national and international corporations and nonprofits.
Johnson has attended and trained at four JCI Area Conferences, one JCI World Congress, and two JCI Global Partnership Summits. He also graduated from the 2018 JCI Academy in Himeji, Japan. He has been honored as JCI Senator No. 75257. He speaks English and some Spanish.
Candidate: Nihal Zoroglu
National Organization: JCI Turkey
Born 30 January 1988 in Ordu, Turkey, Zoroglu holds a bachelor’s degree in finance and business administration and works as co-founder and CEO of MoWo Consultant Ltd. She resides in Istanbul, Turkey.
Zoroglu served as an AIESEC member from 2010 to 2012. She went to Chandigarh, India, for an AIESEC internship and was recommended to be the event and database director of Aggarwal Educational Trust Company for the "International School of Animation" project. She also has been recognized as most outstanding team leader.
Zoroglu joined JCI Maltepe in January 2014. She became Local President in 2015, and she has been recognized as Most Outstanding Local President of JCI Turkey. During her leadership, the Local Organization has increased the number of members by 55% percent, created its first sustainable impact project, and received several national awards and one international recognition as a "100 Years of Impact Project" with the Social Schoolyard Projects.
Zoroglu has also been honored as JCI Senator No. 76990. She speaks English.
Candidate: Adeniyi Balogun
National Organization: JCI Nigeria
Born 5 March 1981 in Lagos, Nigeria, Balogun began his JCI career as a member of the Lagos State Polytechnic Junior Chamber in 1999, where he later served as 2004 Local Organization President. He joined in forming JCI Festac and was the Charter Executive Vice President in 2007, 2012 JCI Enugu Local President and 2018 JCI Nigeria National President. He resides in Lagos, Nigeria, with his wife, Olajumoke, and their daughter, Asiya, and son, Al-Amin.
As a young professional, he joined Guinness Nigeria in 2004 and later MultiChoice Nigeria in 2012 as national corporate and commercial sales manager responsible for MultiChoice Nigeria B2B and a complete video entertainment solution across the hospitality and related industry sector.
He is a 2007 graduate of the JCI Africa and the Middle East Leadership Academy and a 2016 global networker from the JCI Academy in Mito, Japan.
Balogun is a graduate in accounting from Lagos State Polytechnic, Lagos State, and holds a post-graduate diploma in management from the University of Calabar, Cross River State, and a Management Development Programme certification from the London School of Business and Finance in London, UK.
Candidate: Fanuel Nyamayaro
National Organization: JCI Zimbabwe
Born 2 February 1980 in Harare, Zimbabwe, Nyamayaro holds a Bachelor of Law Degree with honors and is managing partner in Nyamayaro, Makanza and Bakasa Legal Practice. He resides in Harare. He is married to Zanne, and they have one child, Nandipha Tendeso Talia.
He joined JCI Harare in 2004 and served as the 2007 JCI Harare Local President. He has also served on the JCI Zimbabwe National Board and as the 2016 JCI Zimbabwe National President. He is currently serving as Development Councilor for the JCI Africa and Middle East Development Council.
Nyamayaro has attended three JCI World Congresses and five JCI Area Conferences and is a graduate of the 28th JCI Academy in Tokyo, Japan in 2015. He was conferred life membership of JCI and is Senator No. 74628. He speaks fluent English.
Candidate: Harira Cisse
National Organization: JCI Mali
Born 30 October 1982 in Ansongo, Mali, Cisse is a pharmacist and works as a consultant for the Promotion the Quality of Medicines Program in Mali. She resides in Bamako, Mali.
Cisse joined JCI in 2007. She became Local President of JCI Bamako Espoir in 2013, served as 2014 JCI Mali National Vice President and 2015 National Executive Vice President. In 2016, Cisse served as National Deputy President and the following year as 2017 JCI Mali National President.
At the international level, Cisse is a member of 2018 JCI Strategic Planning Committee. She has attended seven JCI Area Conferences and three JCI World Congresses. She has been honored as JCI Senator No. 75785. She speaks French and some English.
Candidate: Silva Dolmane
National Organization: JCI Latvia
Born 20 June 1982, Dolmane is from Piebalga, Latvia. Dolmane holds a master's degree in organization and company management and works as a sales division director in an investment and business consulting company. She has a son, Emīls.
Dolmane has served as local government deputy for four years. She joined JCI Latvia in 2008, became Local President in 2010 and 2012 JCI Latvia National President. For the last two years, she has served as the 2018 JCI European Conference Co-Director.
At the international level, Dolmane serves as 2018 Executive Assistant to the President for Europe. She has attended 10 JCI Area Conferences and six JCI World Congresses. She has been honored as JCI Senator No.70830 and is a JCI Phil Pugsley Patron. She speaks English, Latvian and basic Russian.
Candidate: Kiyoto Kawasaki
National Organization: JCI Japan
Born on 5 June 1980 in Tokyo, Japan, Kawasaki is a director of Asano Corporation Inc., and resides in Tokyo Japan.
He joined JCI Tokyo in 2008. In 2016, he served as Chairperson of the Fans of Japan Creation Commission of JCI Japan, and in 2017, he served as Vice President for Kanto District, JCI Japan.
This year, he is serving as Executive Vice President of JCI Tokyo as well as a member of the JCI Affairs Commission of JCI Japan as well as JCI Executive Assistant to the President for Asia and the Pacific.
He has attended 11 JCI Area Conferences and five JCI World Congresses. He speaks English and Japanese.
Candidate: Maria Alejandra Castillo Saavedra
National Organization: JCI Bolivia
Born 17 December 1986 in Cochabamba, Bolivia, Castillo holds a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering and works as a commercial manager of her own business, a veterinarian products company. She resides in Cochabamba, Bolivia.
Castillo joined JCI Union in 2006. She was Local Director from 2006 to 2008, Local Secretary General in 2009, National Secretary General in 2010, Local Vice President in 2011 and Local President in 2012. At the national level, Castillo served as National Vice President in 2013, National Executive Director in 2014, Executive Vice President in 2015 and National President in 2016.
At the international level, Castillo served as JCI Americas Development Commissioner in 2017. She graduated from the JCI Academy in 2015, she has attended six JCI Area Conferences and one JCI World Congress. Alejandra is a JCI certified trainer, and she speaks English and Spanish.
Candidate: Teresa Poon
National Organization: JCI Hong Kong
Born on 21 June 1981, Teresa Poon is the director of three companies and resides in Hong Kong.
She joined JCI City Lady in 2008 and served as the Local President in 2011. She became Secretary General for the 2012 JCI Asia-Pacific Conference in Hong Kong. In 2013, she demonstrated herself as an impact maker by serving as National Vice President and a calm decision maker as National General Legal Counsel in 2014. Her appointment as a 100th Anniversary Committee Member and Growth and Development Chairperson in the following years made her a global networker. In 2017, she became JCI Hong Kong National President and inspired 2,300 members locally.
Poon is an entrepreneur who has attended 14 JCI Area Conferences and eight JCI World Congresses.
Candidate: Laura Enache
National Organization: JCI Ireland
Born 26 January 1986, Enache holds a master’s degree in marketing and works as a sales and marketing consultant and CEO of a wearable devices start-up company. She resides in Dublin, Ireland, with her husband, Cosmin.
Enache joined JCI Dublin in 2012. She became Local President in 2015, JCI Ireland Deputy President in 2017 and JCI Ireland National President in 2018.
Enache has attended six JCI Area Conferences and three JCI World Congresses. She has been honored as JCI Senator No. 76380. She speaks English, Romanian and French.
Candidate: Kuan Ting Huang
National Organization: JCI Taiwan
Huang was born on 22 June 1984 in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. She graduated from the University of International Business Management. She owns a trading company of traffic safety products.
Huang joined JCI in 2008. She has been appointed by her National Organization as a special assistant to the 2016 JCI Asia-Pacific Conference Director, 2016 JCI Taiwan Vice President and 2018 JCI Taiwan Executive Vice President.
Huang has international experience in the JCI Taiwan International Affairs team, and she has attended seven JCI Area Conferences and four JCI World Congresses. She speaks Mandarin and English.
Candidate: Shreedhar Basyal
National Organization: JCI Nepal
Basyal was born on 14 August 1982 in Nawalparasi, Nepal. He holds a bachelor’s degree in computer application and runs his own companies named Dot Com House, Siru Vai ICT Trading, Siru Vai Trading and SiruVai ICET Pvt. Ltd. He resides in Ramgram Municipality with his wife, Pushpa Khanal, and daughter, Aayastha Basyal.
Basyal joined JCI Ramgram in 2004. He became Theme Director in 2005, Secretary General in 2007, Executive Vice President in 2008 and President in 2009. He was elected as a Vice President of JCI Nepal in 2010, appointed as a National Councilors Academy Chairman in 2011, Training Commissioner in 2012, Executive Vice President in 2017 and JCI Nepal National President in 2018.
He has attended two JCI Area Conferences, National Presidents meetings, and Senate Golf meetings.
Candidate: Rey Felix C. Rafols
National Organization: JCI Philippines
Rafols was born on 28 August 1982 to Rey and Erna Rafols in Makati City, Philippines. He studied culinary arts at the Global Academy of Culinary Arts. Today, he has various entrepreneurial ventures in the food, tourism and hospitality industry, namely the Cowrie Grill, Rafols Bakery, Mavericks Burgers, Sofi's Deli and Island Sizzlers. He works to promote his hometown of Puerto Princesa as a premiere leisure destination and was appointed to the Puerto Princesa Tourism Committee in 2015. He is also a member of the board of directors of the FV Rafols Foundation, which awards scholarships to students.
He joined JCI Puerto Princesa Kiao in 2009 and served as Local President in 2015 and in other national positions thereafter. In 2017, he was awarded as the Most Outstanding Area Vice President.
Candidate: Firas Deeb
National Organization: JCI Syria
Born on 11 May 1979 in Aleppo, Syria, Deeb holds a master's degree in European studies and policies from the European College of Parma, Italy, and works as a regional programme manager at SPARK, an international development organization. He has more than 14 years of working experience in the Middle East and North Africa region and the European Union, including Belgium, Ireland and Luxembourg working with international and European institutions such as the European Investment Bank (EIB) and the European Commission.
Deeb joined JCI Aleppo in 2007. He became Local Vice President in 2010 and led several JCI projects on the local and national level in 2011 and 2012. He contributed to the process of relaunching JCI Syria during the war in 2015 and served as a member of his National Board of Directors in 2015 and 2016. He became the JCI Syria National President in 2018.
He has attended five JCI World Congress, three JCI Area Conferences and one JCI Global Partnership Summit. He was honored in 2016 as JCI Senator No. 75371. He speaks English, Arabic and Luxembourgish.
Candidate: Marcin Badura
National Organization: JCI Poland
Badura was born 1 December 1980 in Cracow, Poland. In 2006, he graduated in law at the Jagiellonian University in Cracow, and in 2008 he graduated in political science at the same university.
Badura joined JCI Cracow in 2012. In 2014, he held the position of Local President and in 2017, he held the position of JCI Poland National President.
He currently holds the position of JCI European Development Council Councilor. Badura has attended three JCI World Congresses and four JCI Area Conferences.
Candidate: Daniel Guarderas Donoso
National Organization: JCI Ecuardor
Daniel Guarderas Donoso was born on 4 September 1980 in Quito, Ecuador. He holds a degree in Business Administration. He is an international certified coach, CEO and founder of the consulting firm InTerna Strategy Partners Company.
Guarderas joined JCI Ecuador in 2000 and was elected JCI Quito Local President in 2009 - honored as the Most Outstanding Local Organization in Ecuador that same year. He was National Executive Vice President in 2015 and elected to serve as National President in 2016. Currently, Guarderas serves as Executive Director of JCI Ecuador.
At the international level, he served as a 2017 JCI Alumni Relations Committee Member and as the Director of the 2018 JCI National Presidents Meeting of the Americas.
He has attended seven JCI Area Conferences and two JCI World Congresses. He graduated from the American Leadership Academy in 2010 and the JCI Academy in 2015. He has been honored as JCI Senator No. 73981 and is a Phil Pugsley Patron of the JCI Foundation. He speaks Spanish and English.
Candidate: Shenella Govia
National Organization: JCI West Indies
Born 9 February 1990 in Antigua, West Indies, Govia holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and was appointed as a government senator in 2014. She also works as the executive assistant to the prime minister of Antigua and Barbuda. Her primary focus within the government has been Youth Development. She resides in Antigua with her parents.
Govia joined JCI Antigua in 2013. She served as Local President of JCI Antigua in 2015 and National President of JCI West Indies in 2018.
She has attended three JCI Area Conferences, one JCI Global Partnership Summit and three JCI World Congresses. She graduated from the 2016 American Leadership Academy in Punta del Este, Uruguay and the 2017 Japan Academy in Kumamoto. Govia has been honored as JCI Senator No. 76808 and is a Phil Pugsley Patron of the JCI Foundation. She speaks English fluently.
Candidate: Bolivar Batista
National Organization: JCI Dominican Republic
Born 19 November 1988 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, Batista holds two degrees in business and finance, and audit, and also is studying to earn a master’s degree in financial engineering. He works as a tax auditor in the national tax office. He resides in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, with his wife, Maria Alejandra, and their son, Bolivar Alejandro.
Bolivar joined JCI 80 in 2010. He became Local President in 2013, and National President in 2018.
At the international level, Bolivar served as 2017 JCI Executive Assistant to the President in the Americas. He has attended four JCI Area Conferences, one JCI Global Partnership Summit and two JCI World Congresses. He is a graduate of the 2013 JCI American Leadership Academy and also graduated from the 2017 JCI Japan Academy. He is a Phil Pugsley Patron of the JCI Foundation. He speaks English and Spanish.
Candidate: Arpti Hathi
National Organization: JCI India
Born on 12 May 1980 in Rajkot, Gujarat, India, Arpit Malvik Hathi holds a bachelor’s in commerce degree and is one of the Managing Partner of the company. He resides in Baroda, Gujarat, India with his wife Falguni and their daughter Prisha.
Hathi joined JCI Baroda Alkapuri in 2003. He became Local Organization President in 2007, JCI India Zone President in 2010, JCI India Executive Vice President in 2016 and serves as 2018 JCI India National President.
At the international level he has attended 4 JCI Area Conference, 3 JCI World Congress and the JCI Global Partnership Summit. He has been honored as JCI Senator No. 70167. He speaks English and Hindi.
Candidate: Eudes Séverin Poaty
National Organization: JCI Gabon
Born 3 June 1979, in Port-Gentil, Gabon, Eudes Séverin Poaty holds master’s degrees in business law and human resources management. His degree led him to work as a Legal and HR Manager of an oil company. He resides in Port-Gentil, Gabon with his wife, Shanna, their two daughters, Taliane and Julmina, and son, Charles Emmanuel.
Poaty joined JCI Ariana (Tunisia) in 2007 when he was a student. He became a Local President in 2012, National Treasurer in 2015, National Vice President in 2016 and served as 2017 National President.
At the international level, Poaty served as Sponsorship Committee Member for Africa & the Middle East in 2018 and graduated the 2016 JCI Academy in Mito. He has attended five JCI Area Conferences and four JCI Worlds Congresses. He speaks French and English.
Candidate: Nadja Maraite
National Organization: JCI Belgium
Born in March 1979, Maraite holds a doctor in medicine from the Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium in 2004. Since 2009, she has worked as a neurologist in a private hospital in Namur where she was secretary of the department committee until 2016 and member of the Medical Council until 2017. She resides in Namur, Belgium, with her fiancé, Henry.
Maraite joined JCI Namur in 2011. She became Local President in 2013 and Regional President in 2016. She currently serves as 2018 JCI Belgium National President.
At the international level, Maraite served as the JCI 100th Anniversary Celebration Committee Chairperson in 2015. She has attended five JCI World Congresses and 13 JCI Area Conferences, took part in the 2012 JCI Germany Academy, 2013 JCI European Academy, 2014 JCI COC Academy and the 2017 JCI Japan Academy.
She has been honored as JCI Senator No. 77379 and is a Phil Pugsley Patron of the JCI Foundation. She speaks German, French, English and Dutch.
