Action-Packed Congress Sessions Motivate Delegates to Dare to Act

On Wednesday, November 6, World Congress attendees explored ways to create an environment where people are motivated toward positive change.

Special guests from the UN Foundation’s Nothing But Nets campaign joined JCI members at the Morning Show to motivate them to keep sending nets to save lives. After learning about the impact JCI members created on a net distribution trip to Madagascar, volunteer teams from each Area cheered loudly and pumped up the crowd during the Minute to Win It: Motivation Celebration. Right after the Morning Show, delegates raced to the 2014 JCI Executive Vice President and President Candidate’s Caucus. 2014 JCI Executive Vice President Candidates gave inspiring answers to challenging questions about how they will bring JCI into a better, brighter future. JCI World Presidents interviewed 2014 Candidate for JCI President Shine Bhaskaran from JCI India. He promised the members, if elected, to Unite to Impact the world locally and globally.

Other members attended the JCI Skills Development Program Presentation, A World Without Malaria hosted by Nothing But Nets and Official JCI Training Courses. In the afternoon, JCI Programs kicked off with an exciting JCI World Public Speaking Championship, and large audiences witnessed dynamic discussion at the three World Debating Championships. Members solidified their JCI Twinning agreements with JCI President Chiara Milani present to congratulate their collaboration. The Anti-Corruption Forum hosted by Director of the International Chamber of Commerce-World Chambers Federation (ICC-WCF) Anthony Parkes, State Prosecutor for the State of Santa Catarina, Brazil Dr. Affonso Ghizzo Neto and UN Global Compact Senior Advisor Fred Dubee focused on how to fight corruption through educational programs and increased awareness of this global challenge. Delegates eagerly brainstormed ideas about the action steps, goals and implementation on the local level of the JCI Strategic Plan and prepared themselves to take action to be the organization that unites all sectors of society to create sustainable impact.
