Sustainable Development Goal

Life on Land

Let’s Do It! World is a civic-led mass movement that began in Estonia in 2008 when 50,000 people united together to clean up the entire country in just five hours. Since then, Let’s Do It! has spread this model—one country in one day—around the world. To date, 113 countries and over 16 million people have joined to clean up illegal waste. Let’s Do It! has never been only about cleaning up waste. It also aims to unite the global community, raise awareness and implement true change to achieve our final goal– a clean and healthy planet. As JCI Kadikoy, our slogan has always been "Let's do it all together!" so our aim would serve to "Peace Is Possible" project too. We want to give peace message while doing same thing all together.

We applied "Let's Do It! World" project's know-how. We made partnership with Siyamder, Kadikoy Municipality, Kadikoy City Council to organise a clean-up event in Kadikoy/Istanbul. Also we made one of the biggest construction companies Nurol Holding to make their own clean-up day in Rumeli Feneri Castle/Istanbul. Our organisation was held in Yildiz Technical University Acibadem Lodgement area which has been left for at least 10 years without any maintanance. We used "TrashOut" app to make trash mapping by using technology before the clean-up day. JCI Avrasya provided construction vehicle to clean the big debris from the area. JCI Istanbul helped us by participancy. We made a multicultural call for cleaning and we showed how we can do it all together with "Peace Is Possible" message.

Actions Taken

Multicultural clean-up organisation
Give "Peace Is Possible" message via media (magazine, social media)
Organising clean-up event for "Let's Do It! World"
Being in Turkey team of 2018 World Clean Up Day as JCI

We would recommend them to make partnerships and project planning with them to prevent late anouncements, permission bans etc. Future organisers should use social media, make people desire to join. Multicultural participancy is a must for peace message. People should do all together and feel the peaceful and clean world together.

We have raised awareness for clean, healthy and peaceful environment. We could provide a clean environment to Rumeli Castle
