Purpose

The Purpose of the campaign is to have collective actions by means of providing a platform that all citizens/ civil society organizations can participate so as to educate together for responsible citizens.


Overview

Myanmar became a part of this year’s worldwide clean-up event for the first time. From 2018 onwards, JCI Myanmar and JCI Yangon will organize the World Clean-up Day every year, in cooperation with government, partner organizations, social organizations, charities and the public. The World Clean- up Day 2018 has been organized successfully in Myanmar, with the corporation of Government, Yangon City Development Committee, Mandalay City Development Committee, Clean Myanmar, Clean Yangon Campaign, Trash Hero Myanmar and JCI Myanmar. The opening ceremony of World Cleanup Day 2018 in Yangon was held in front of Yangon City Hall and over 1,000 participants celebrated World Cleanup Day in Yangon and 10,000 participants collected trash together throughout the country. Junior Chamber International, JCI Myanmar organized World Cleanup Day in Myanmar together with the collaboration of Yangon City Development Committee (YCDC), Mandalay City Development Committee (MCDC), JCI Yangon, Clean Yangon / Clean Myanmar and Trash Hero Myanmar and it was the very first time of celebrating World Clean-up Day movements that had been made in Myanmar.

Results

PROJECT EVALUATION
Mayor of Yangon City attended the Opening event for World Cleanup Day in Yangon, Myanmar. Chief Minister of Mandalay Regional Government and Mayor of Mandalay City attended the opening ceremony for World Cleanup Day in Mandalay, Myanmar.

17 Newspapers and Journals are pressed about World Cleanup Day Myanmar’s opening event in Yangon and described regarding WCD clean-up activities in Myanmar.

18 TV Station/ Broadcasting Channel/Online Media such as Myanmar National Television (MNTV), Sky Net up to date channel and MRTV have beenbroadcasted on air about World Cleanup Day Myanmar and its activities. Three Radio Stations did Live Interview about World Cleanup Day and how to use application to Wit Hmone Phoo Pwint Thu a.k.a TaRa, Project Manager of World Cleanup Day Myanmar.

28 Partners involved to help World Cleanup Day Myanmar and shared news about WCD at their social media and internal announcement.

Over 10,000 volunteers from 30 Cities was participated and total Over 133,000 kilograms of trash amount was collected on 15th September 2018, World Cleanup Day.

There are over 1500 people attended World Cleanup Day opening event in Yangon and Mandalay, including partners, media, volunteers and organisers. Moreover, famous Actor Zenn Kyi and Film Director Christina Kyi was attended the opening event in Yangon and contributed LIVE streaming for World Clean-up Day event in Yangon and helped to get more awareness and to reduce trash blindness. Actress Smile, Ma Tue, Presenter Ko Maung Maung Aye, Singer Demojacktoo, Miss from Miss Golden Land Myanmar, Child actors, Mrs Global Tourism (Winner), Mrs. Tourism Queen Int'l Ambassador, Mrs. Best in Talent (Winner) and Miss from Golden Land Myanmar Organisation supported to get public awareness for World Cleanup Day in Myanmar and Cleanup campaigns.

Recommendations

As per the project supporters' encouragement, this nationwide JCI Movement should be organized every year. and to embed membership incremental in activities and to be more recognized to JCI Brand by government and nationwide active citizens.
