Technology?A Key Success Factor at the III Leadership Academy of the Americas

The III Leadership Academy of the Americas was launched in the beautiful city of Asuncion, Paraguay, on July 10. The Defense Minister of Paraguay and the Ambassadors from Chile and Ecuador attended the opening ceremony. Among the enthusiastic participants in the Academy are Junior Chamber members from Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Puerto Rico, United States, Uruguay, Venezuela, and West Indies.
The top-level Junior Chamber instructors who are contributing to the great impact of the Academy include JCI Executive Vice President Lars Hajslund, American Development Council Chairperson Alicia Montero, 2001 JCI Executive Vice President Fernando Sanchez, and 1997 JCI Vice President Ruben Gonzalez. Guest speakers include James Spalding, Paraguay Secretary of the Treasury; Dr. Raul Vera, Paraguay Central Bank President; Miguel Carrizosa, President of the Paraguayan Production, Industry and Commerce Federation; and Guillermo Stanley, Paraguayan Industrial Union President. The moderator is JCI Senator Gustavo Volpe. Various topics of great interest to Junior Chamber members in the Americas will be discussed, among them, ?Economic Integration Processes,? ?Dollarization Vs. Domestic Monetary Policies,? ?The Private Sector as a Development Factor and as a Change Catalyst in Latin American Countries,? and ?Globalization in Integration.? The use of technology is a key factor to the effectiveness of this Academy. The wireless system being used to permanently connect laptops and maintain them on online allows for high communication speed and ease of information management.
