1967 JCI President Clifford E. Myatt Sr. Passes Away

It is with great sadness that JCI announces the death of former JCI President Clifford E. Myatt Sr. on 3 December 2017.

Born 3 September 1929, the 1967 JCI President passed away peacefully at the age of 88 at Quail Haven Village Retirement Community in Pinehurst, North Carolina.

Myatt was a graduate of Boston College and Bentley University before starting his CPA career with Ernst and Young in Boston 1952. He and his family relocated to San Juan, Puerto Rico – what he considered his second home – in 1957.

He was elected JCI President in 1967 where he had an inauguration in Japan. After his JCI presidency, Myatt continued working at Ernst and Young. From 1993 to 1995, he worked for the Puerto Rican government to advance the economic development and attract new industries and businesses.

Those closest to him say that his sense of humor, passion for singing and the twinkle in his eye will never be forgotten. Being an avid golf player, Myatt served on the board of directors for Dorado Beach Golf Club and was a director, board member and the Rules Committee Chairman for the Puerto Rico Golf Association (PRGA). In 2017, Myatt was inducted into the PRGA Hall of Fame, having played with Chi Chi Rodriguez, George Bush and Gary Player during his golfing career.

On behalf of JCI members worldwide, 2018 JCI President Marc Brian Lim and JCI Secretary General Arrey Obenson would like to extend their deepest condolences to the family and friends of 1967 JCI President Clifford E. Myatt Sr. He will be remembered with respect and admiration for his leadership and commitment to JCI.
