Coral Gables, FL, U.S.A.— Junior Chamber International (JCI), Inc.—a worldwide federation of young professionals and entrepreneurs with over half-a-million members, JCI Senators and Senior Members in more than 100 countries and territories—will host its January Board Meeting in Coral Gables, Florida, U.S.A., on January 12–18, 2002. JCI officers, representing all continents and more than 20 countries, will attend the five-day, multinational meeting to discuss global issues in a business forum. JCI President Salvi Batlle from Catalonia will lead the meeting. Batlle and his team will come to JCI Headquarters for the annual planning and training week, which will focus on team building and developing the plan of action for the year. Also in attendance will be JCI Executive Vice Presidents Ebiowei Tobi (Nigeria), Marcelo Martin Nolasco Fernan, Jr., (Philippines), Lars Hajslund (Denmark), and Kevin Cullinane (Ireland). Completing the Executive Committee traveling to Coral Gables for this meeting will be Immediate Past President Georges A. Bouverat (Switzerland), General Legal Counsel Bruce Rector (U.S.A.), Treasurer Ravi Shankar S. (India), and Chief Executive Assistant Eric R. Candanedo (Panama). JCI Vice Presidents representing Canada, Cote d’ Ivoire, Cyprus, Dominican Republic, Finland, India, Japan, Malaysia, Mauritius, the Netherlands, Pakistan, Philippines, Scotland, Tunisia, Turkey, Venezuela, and U.S.A., as well as other guests from around the world will also be attending the intensive meeting and training session. The training for the vice presidents will take place before the business meetings on Miami Beach. Important new initiatives will be launched at this meeting, which will shape Junior Chamber’s direction and course of action in 2002 and beyond, further to the 50 recommendations made by the 1999 Strategic Planning Committee (SPC). These recommendations cover administration, finance, marketing, programs, services, training, business, meetings, Foundation, and Senate, with heavy focus on technology and communications, which the SPC perceived as a key means for achieving all their objectives. Deliberations will also center on JCI’s corporate slogan, "Entrepreneurs in Action!"
