- To organize the event that opens the holdiay season in town: JCI Whitby Santa Claus Parade. - To get public exposure for our local organization.

Visión general

The JCI Whitby Santa Claus Parade is one of the largest small town Santa Claus Parades, with over 80 entries. It includes floats, bands, dancing groups, twirling groups, clowns, schools and of course our main guest: Santa. Our chapter organizes everything from the route, getting permits, promotes and market the parade to get entries and get people going downtown to watch this event.

- Include more bands and music entries - Include more animals in the parade - Invite a local personality to be Grand Marshall - Have a JCI float in the parade - Improve the website - Have a microphone for Santa and music in his float.

- We received 86 entries registrations. - Event promoted through press releases, Whitby Chamber of Commerce, Schools newsletter and the event was posted in 15 different websites. - Our members got the opportunity to develop their managerial skills while organizing this event. - We had 30 volunteers at the event and 1125 people participating in the parade. - Around 15,000 went downtown Whitby to watch the parade. - Minister of Parliament, Jim Flaherty; Minister of Provincial Parliament, Christine Elliott and Mayor of Whitby, Pat Perkins participated in the parade
