JCI Founder, Henry Giessenbier, is quoted to have said that:
“From within the walls of the soul of this organization wherein the foundation of character and good citizenship are laid, I hope a message will come in the sometime of tomorrow that will stir the people towards the establishment of a permanent and everlasting world peace”. –

As part of our activities in the area of education and empowerment, JCI, Lagos City conceived and initiated a Public Speaking Competition for young students in Secondary Schools, in our immediate community.

The Public Speaking Competition is named after JCI Senator Paschal Dike, who is the first World president from Nigeria after a 100years of the existence of the organisation. JCI believes that the time has come to stir the people towards peace and has adopted a campaign to promote peace under the theme, Peace is possible.

The Peace is Possible campaign mobilizes young people worldwide to create awareness, advocate, take action and commit to an everlasting world peace.

The ability to speak publicly confidently and convincingly is a required asset to take active roles in the community. It is better to harness this skill among secondary school students who are the leaders of tomorrow.
