“We live in a complex world. The United Nations cannot succeed alone.
Partnership must continue to be at the heart of our strategy.
We should have the humility to acknowledge the essential role of other actors,
while maintaining full awareness of our unique convening power.”
—United Nations Secretary General António Guterres
The world faces great challenges and opportunities. In response, people around the world are advancing the Global Goals for Sustainable Development to end extreme poverty, fight inequality and injustice and combat climate change. Leaders from the government, business and civil society must invest and actively participate in advancing these vital development goals.
As young active citizens, we know that these goals and a peaceful future will only be achieved with each sector of society taking responsibility to advance this sustainable global development agenda in order to develop a world that is free of poverty, inequality and climate change and truly sustain a peaceful future.
With the support of the Office of the UN Secretary General’s Envoy on Youth, the 2017 JCI Global Partnership Summit will engage leaders to discuss important challenges and opportunities that the Global Goals present. Active participation throughout the Summit provides momentum for all delegates and speakers to return to their homes and work with the motivation to take responsibility and start taking action toward building the future we want to see in 2030.
